Pre Natal PilatesPilates is the perfect workout for mothers-to-be. There are many benefits in practicing Pilates during pregnancy. Expectant mothers benefit can expect to:

  • Strengthen the lower abdominal region to support the growing baby and thereby alleviate lower back pain;
  • Tone the pelvic floor muscles in preparation for delivery (and aid in recovery);
  • Develop an awareness of deep breathing to assist movement, are some of the many benefits.

Pilates is based on controlled motion, thus there is little risk of jerky movement and overstretching the ligaments and joints. Because much of the work centers on strengthening core control muscles, attention is focused on directing blood flow and oxygen to the abdominal region; nourishing for both mother and baby. In both the studio and group training environments, the instructor will modify exercises for pre-natal clients so that they are able to achieve optimum shape for the much-awaited arrival of their little ones.
